A Summer of Expansion at Hastings Legal

It’s exciting times at Hastings Legal as we’ve recently expanded with several new staff members!

We delighted to announce that Tim Taylor has been appointed a new director at Hastings Legal. Tim first joined us as a Trainee Solicitor in 2016, progressing to Associate. He said: “I’m delighted to take up the role of Director, especially during such an exciting time for our firm. I’m excited by the opportunity to lead and shape the future of Hastings Legal and our fantastic team.”

Abby Taylor, who joined as a Trainee Solicitor in 2021, has also recently completed her Traineeship, progressing to the position of NQ Solicitor within the firm. Abby has in-depth experience in conveyancing and private client work, including Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executries.

Ellen Pate, who joined the firm in 2023 is also about to begin her Traineeship, having recently passed the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen.

We have also appointed two new Paralegals over the summer, Jane Riddell and Julie Mason. Jane has over 30 years’ experience working for solicitors across the Scottish Borders, and Julie is currently undertaking her Wills, Trusts & Executries Paralegal Accreditation.

We’ve also hired a new Head of Marketing, Abby Fraser-Davidson. Abby said: “Having worked in the property and marketing industry for several years, I am excited to have joined the Hastings Legal team to work with such a recognised, forward-thinking and friendly local company.”

In addition to the above new appointments, this summer we opened a brand-new office on Coldstream High Street. Not only does the Coldstream office cater for our legal, property and lettings clients, but it also hosts our ‘Hastings First Gallery’, displaying artwork of esteemed local artists such as Luke Bachelor, Tom Cooper and Elaine Henderson.

Supporting the local community is an integral part of our culture here at Hastings. We believe creating skilled jobs and community spaces, such as our art gallery, has a strong benefit to the rural landscape of the Scottish Borders, helping invest in our local communities and talent.

“There’s no substitute for using a good local firm as you get what you pay for.”Rob Armstrong
