New Smoke Alarm And Electrical Safety Regulations 2016

Landlord Alert- Important new regulations for private rental properties.

If you have a rental property in Scotland you need to be aware regulations are being updated and all rental properties must have hard wired, interlinked smoke and heat detectors and a valid Electrical Installation Condition Report and PAT testing in place by 1st December 2016.

The cost of the EICR and smoke detectors will vary from property to property depending on how many detectors (if any) require to be fitted but this is work which requires to be done by the deadline of  1st December 2016.

This will be a significant cost and logistic problem for landlords particularly in country areas like here in the Scottish Borders. We have advised all of our landlords of the need to get this work done and for our managed properties we arrange the work for the landlords so they don’t have the hassle.
