In Ron Hastings’ blog post for Kelso Life May edition
he wrote about how a good selling agent will take the trouble to identify and highlight the unique selling points of a property.
He cited two examples of properties that had just come on to the market. As usual, the article has to be written and submitted a couple of weeks before publication. One property sold within days and the other had gone Under Offer before the Magazine was even distributed!
Here is the article and links to the properties.

Daring to be Different -What is special about selling property?
It can be hard to continually come up with something different to say about property but if you look hard enough, there is often a hidden gem or two waiting to be discovered. The easy option is to lapse into the same formulaic approach when describing property for sale. But do potential buyers really want to know about the number of power points and décor?
Successful selling agents seize the opportunity to highlight the quirky and the unusual and revel in the fact there is something unusual or different, inside or out, that makes a particular property stand out from the crowd. Something the seller hasn’t even thought to mention can turn out to be an all-important feature…or a passing comment in the surveyor’s report and valuation may equally merit a mention by someone who knows about the true value of what sells a property.
Spring and early summer is a great time to market and new properties that tick the right boxes can be snapped up quickly. A recent example of a super-fast sale was a quaint, one- bedroomed end terrace property in The Butts, which went on the market and sold within days.
Equally unique is Heatherlie Cottage in Gordon, a property with a charming interior but what really cries ‘buy me’ lies at the foot of the garden – a timber lined cabin complete with wood burning stove and decked sitting area overlooking the surrounding countryside. Imagine being able to experience luxury camping or ‘glamping’ without having to leave home. Heatherlie offers just that and with open views and dark skies you could even set up your own home observatory and indulge a passion for star gazing without having to stand outside on cold starry nights. As a bonus, Heatherlie also includes a traditional cottage with two bedrooms bathroom living room, kitchen….and yes, plenty of power points.
