His Majesty King Charles III visited the Royal Burgh of Jedburgh on Thursday 2 July 2026, with residents, local businesses and community organisations coming together to give The King a warm Borders welcome. Crowds lined the High Street as the town celebrated a memorable Royal Visit that showcased the history, traditions and community spirit that make Jedburgh so special.
During the visit, His Majesty met independent traders and community groups, visited the Jed Shed, enjoyed the traditional procession led by the Jethart Callant and officially started Jedburgh’s historic Hand Ba’. The day highlighted the unique heritage of the Royal Burgh and the pride shared by everyone who lives and works in the town.
Meeting His Majesty was a real privilege and a moment we’ll always remember. As he stopped to greet us outside our Jedburgh office, we shared a light-hearted exchange about him ‘visiting’ Hastings and joked that he was running behind schedule, which he took with great humour. It was a wonderful experience and a proud moment to represent Hastings during such a memorable day for Jedburgh.

A Memorable Moment for Hastings
As His Majesty made his way along the High Street, Julie and Jodi were proud to represent Hastings outside our Jedburgh office as he greeted local businesses and members of the public. The King stopped to shake hands, exchange a few words and share a laugh before continuing through the town.
Following the visit, Julie was also interviewed by members of the national and local media, reflecting on the occasion and what it meant for the town.
