The work goes on…….
Our offices are closed but Hastings Legal are still open for business.
As we are all aware, UK and Scottish Governments have taken a number of measures to restrict the movement of people in order to combat the spread of COVID-19 and to keep us all safe.
Most shops and businesses have been closed and many law firms like ours are operating remotely, with staff working from home. Fortunately we have systems in place that allow us to look after our clients with cloud based remote working. This helps keep clients updated and their business progressed with as near to normal a service as possible. The health and safety of the Hastings team along with all of our clients is absolutely paramount.
How House Sales and Purchases are affected
After an initial period of uncertainty, with conveyancing transactions held up following the suspension of the Land Register, a solution was found and in recent weeks The Law Society of Scotland has issued guidance allowing some transactions to be finalised. Whilst most people have delayed their house move the majority of transactions have been rescued.
Restrictions have also impacted on both removal companies, and lenders and while this is unquestionably a testing and difficult time for everyone, we are here to support and advise our clients on how the situation impacts them and wherever possible to find a bespoke solution that works for all parties involved.
When will I be able to buy or sell property?
Understandably, vendors and buyers have been asking us lots of questions about the current market along with future projections and how the current situation should influence the decisions they make; can I put my property onto the market; can I view one of your properties; can I make an offer; can I still arrange a mortgage; my property is currently being marketed by Hastings, what’s next.? The situation is of course complex, the property market is in a state of flux and changing rapidly so please contact us by phone or email so we can discuss your individual questions directly.
Wills and Powers of Attorney
At this time many people are thinking of putting their affairs in order. We offer a free Will Checking service. If you need your will updated or to get one set up there is no need to wait until the office is open – we can do this now without the need for a face-to-face meeting. With our modern technology we can also set up a power-of-attorney without the need to meet up.
Give us a call for Property or Legal Matters
We may not have all the answers but we will do our absolute best to help and support you with your onward journey once current restrictions start to ease. You can call our standard office numbers and you will be connected or, if the lines are busy you can leave a message and we will call you back. Alternatively you can communicate by email initially and we will ensure that you are allocated to the appropriate department.
While we cannot meet with you in person, we are still able to partner with our clients to advise, share documents and in some cases offer virtual property viewings and appraisals in conjunction with our full Legal offering.
As a final note
We are all affected by this and we appreciate your being as patient and understanding as possible. We thank you in advance for your cooperation, we hope you and your friends and family stay safe and our thoughts are with all of those directly affected by Covid-19
