Jedburgh Area Guide

Jedburgh is a historic Royal Burgh with a strong community spirit and a good range of independent shops, cafés, restaurants and local services. Its skyline is defined by Jedburgh Abbey, the Castle Jail and the town’s connection to Mary Queen of Scots, giving the centre a distinctive character shaped by centuries of history. The recently completed Jedburgh Grammar Campus brings nursery, primary and secondary education together on one modern site, supporting families across the wider area.

Well positioned just off the A68, Jedburgh lies around ten miles north of the English border and offers swift road links to other Borders towns as well as Edinburgh and Newcastle. For longer-distance travel, the East Coast Main Line at Berwick-upon-Tweed provides convenient onward rail connections.
