KELSO LEGAL OFFICE

It all started here in 1998 when Ron Hastings left the firm he was with to set up independently. He was soon joined by Alan Livingstone and the Legal Practice has burgeoned since. We now have offices throughout the Borders. However, our Property and Legal Specialists can come to you if you can’t come to us.

Our online presence is integral to what we do and gives us a marketing reach that extends well beyond the Borders and Scotland. We were one of the first Solicitors in the Borders to have a website. It was originally set up in 1999 by Helen Hastings.
KELSO PROPERTY SHOP

Back in the day we were one of the first firms of solicitors in the Borders to use the internet for marketing properties. Our Estate Agency department quickly expanded and we opened the Property Shop to accommodate our expanding workforce and showcase our Properties for Sale.
SELKIRK LEGAL & PROPERTY

We opened in Selkirk in 2007 and gradually we have built up a visible presence. We believe that with the re-opening of the Waverley Line more people will want to live in the Borders and commute to Edinburgh for work which will bring greater prosperity to the area. Now is the time to buy!
BORDERS COUNTRY LETS

Times were tough in 2008 and properties were not selling well. Rather than take a drop in price, many people opted to rent their property out until times improved. Borders Country Lets evolved to help find tenants and also to manage the properties for absent landlords and, in the intervening years, it has gone from strength to strength. Lettings is another situation that benefits from our Integrated Marketing and Legals Service.
DUNS LEGAL & PROPERTY

In 2016 the firm of Smiths Grant, became incorporated with Hastings Legal. We are very happy to play our part in the continuation and development a long established and respected firm of Solicitors, to serve their clients and offer our services to new clients. In 2017 Ricky Hope, Berwickshire local, become a Director Solicitor at Hastings Legal.
EYEMOUTH LEGAL & PROPERTY

In June 2019 Hastings Legal amalgamated with Doughtys WS. This respected local firm has provided high quality legal advice to individuals and businesses since 1840 and we are proud to continue this tradition.
JEDBURGH LEGAL & PROPERTY

We opened our Jedburgh office in 2022 and we are delighted to be serving the needs of the local community. Tim Taylor from Coldstream also became our latest Solicitor Director.
COLDSTREAM, LEGAL, PROPERTY & ART GALLERY

In 2023 we acquired this marvellous property that had previously been an Art Gallery – so we have kept part of the space for art exhibitions.
